If you are an ardent college football fan but aren’t really keen on playing on an actual synthetic sports pitch, then you simply must lay your hands on the latest offering from EA Sports- NCAA Football 11. Although you might be tempted to compare it to Madden-EA Sports’ other popular football game, this game is strikingly different.

NCAA Football 11, which has amazingly realistic visuals, is intended to recreate the experience of actually playing the game. The most significant features of NCAA Football 11 are certainly the stunning visuals, smooth animation and interactions which are due to the ESPN graphics package that the game uses. The player models look more natural as the lighting system of the game has been redone and the controls have been reconfigured in such a way that the left and right analog sticks can control the player movement. Although this might cause some discomfort when you start playing this game for the first time but once you spend some time getting used to the system it works pretty well.

You will not find any new modes in NCAA Football 11 but some major additions have been made to the existing Dynasty mode. However it is only by venturing online that you get to experience an entirely new world. The Online Dynasty enables you to compete with your buddies online.

Recruiting has also been improved and now you can chat with recruits on varied topics. The Dynasty Wire lets you play the role of a journalist as you create stories of the games you played. Although the offline Dynasty and the Road to Glory modes haven’t changed much, the new animations and control mechanisms make up for it.

Although at first glance it may not seem to offer enough upgrades but when you participate in the online dynasty and its Web interface or create your team by using the TeamBuilder mode or for that matter just experience the great improvements made to the gameplay you realize that NCAA Football 11 is certainly a must buy.

While running to my local specialist computer games shop last week (past a gruesome looking woman who had apparently just had Face lift surgery ,), someone shouted “Run forest, run!” This is not unusual. After having got a close friend to video-tape me running (this was after the first time someone had shouted the aforementioned thing and I was arguing with my friend, telling him I did not run in any way like Forest Gump) I have to admit that I do run exactly like Forest Gump. Now, of course there are worse people you could run like (nobody wants to be likened to a baboon, for example, or Geoffrey Archer–one and the same thing perhaps?), but still, it hurts when every time you break in to a sprint you get this shouted at you.

So this time I stopped, put my hands on my hips in a macho style, and walked calmly back to the shouting abuser. As I approached the fifteen feet away mark, however, I noticed that he was much younger and much taller than me: a highly embarrassing combination that would surely seal my fate as a complete idiot if I did choose to confront him. So there was that awkward moment: me pretending I had come back to look for loose change, and him gloating because he knew I was bricking it. And then, without finding my imaginary change, I walked away.

My advice, if you play too many computer games and can’t really handle yourself, is to just ignore people who shout at you. Stick to the gaming, that’s much safer.

For the extreme shooter in you, here is new challenge from Capcom for Xbox 360! If you think you are the best shooter and can really kill enemies and insects at will, then get the taste of the latest game – Lost Planet Extreme Condition. With this game you need to do nothing, just struggle through the snow-covered extreme world where DNA Testing has taken over, then you find the giant insects and shoot them. The game is based on a sci-fi theme and before you think that your enemy is simple and is ready to get hit by bullets, think again. The story takes place in the distant future when humans have abandoned earth to colonize some other planets and they must now fight the inhabitants of those planets.

The Lost Planet Extreme Condition is good game for any simple, straightforward shooter, but you will need to use your brain as well, because the insect giant enemies are not without brains either. It is quite fun and challenging to fight the incredible enemies and prove your skill not only as a great shooter but also as a skilled hunter with tactics.

The Xbox 360 game is also available for PC with DX10 support. But, the gaming experience on the PC won’t be as much successful as on the Xbox 360. Another disadvantage of the game is that you need to connect to the internet via Valve Software’s Stream Client to play the single player game and if you lose the connection in the middle it will lead to loss of client and because there are mid-mission saves, you will have to start the mission from the beginning when the internet connection is reconnected. And without the internet the game cannot start!

However the qualities of the hero, Wayne who has to complete the mission, with his shooting prowess, is of such that he functions well in the different environments of the game. This game has the potential of becoming the next iconic video game as it is a lot of fun to play. Get the Lost Plant Extreme Condition and continue the mission and see if you can help humans colonize in those extreme conditions!

The Grand Theft Auto games are great fun to play and I have a particular fondness for the eighties-themed ‘Vice City’. But the only problem is that I never manage to finish any of the missions. The appeal of going off on a freestyle rampage is just far too strong and I will have oodles of cops hunting me down within the first five minutes!

So, when I first got ‘Mercenaries’ I was concerned that I might have the same niggling problem… could I manage to complete any of the actual missions without being lured into bouts random and wanton violence? Well, surprisingly enough, I could! The whole feel of ‘Mercenaries’ is far more tactical than ‘Vice City’ and I can just about manage to behave; well, most of the time…

Free-roaming games are a hugely enjoyable because they make everything seem so real. I don’t know if the playing area of ‘Mercenaries’ is as big as any of the Grand Theft Auto’s, but it certainly takes a long time to explore. And like the GTA games, there are not only missions to be completed; many bonus items are waiting to be discovered and there are some more unusual vehicles to be found along your way.

I have yet to see the second instalment of the ‘Mercenaries’ series, but ‘Playground of Destruction’ is a brilliant title to own. However good you are at this type of game, you will certainly not be completing it in a hurry. When you finally have finished it all, you can play it through with another one of the characters and make a number of different decisions the next time around. Saying all that, I do think that some of the characters that you can play would benefit from a visit to laser tattoo removal Maidenhead, I understand that sometimes game graphics people get out of hand but we are trying to keep this realistic!

Don’t know what an Eniscope is? No, it isn’t some kind of brand-new NASA telescope, if you were wondering. Don’t worry, before I saw the following link I didn’t either: http://www.enigin.co.uk/

Once you get to the main page, just scroll down to Enigin Direct on the right and click there.

That’s right, if you’ve just visited the link and clicked there (like you should have, so if you haven’t then go and do it now, please?), you will have seen that Enigin offer a free demonstration of this awesome Eniscope thing. All you have to do is enter your details and that’s it! Seriously, how cool is that?

Let’s start with the basics (and yes you, go and click that link if you still haven’t done so): Enigin are a company who produce all kinds of gadgets and systems that can help you save energy on tons of different stuff. And I do means tons. It could be lighting, it could be any number of other things; even things like chilled units (one of the worst culprits at wasting energy if there ever was one, don’t you know). Enigin really do have a product to save energy on everything. It doesn’t matter if you own a small business or an enormous one, this company will surely have an answer. Just get in touch, I’m sure they’d be very pleased to help.

This web-site I’ve led you to is mainly about the company’s energy-saving products. There’s information on how they work, and how much energy they can specifically save for you. There’s even a meter which shows you how much energy the Enigin office is using right NOW. Brilliant!

Until recently I hadn’t really thought about my childhood (I’d had a lot on my mind, mainly boring adult stuff like ’I wonder who the most economical central heating oil suppliers are’). I mean, I had thought about it, but I’d missed things out. Important things too. I’d thought about how we used to play as children, but not about how big trees seemed to me or how amazing butterflies were. I’d thought about how it was to build sand-castles but not about how it was to be afraid of the might-time. I’d lost stuff from my memory, or so I thought. It turned out I hadn’t lost it. The memories were there, deep down. A lot of them came flooding back the other day when I played Super Mario Bros on Super Nintendo for the first time in many years–

The controller felt amazing in my hands, all small and plastic, but that was nothing compared to the awesome cartridges. I’d forgotten just how massive they were and how satisfying it was to snap them in to place. And this was all before we even started playing, what excitement there was to come!

This is where the fairy-tale abruptly ends. The next thing I knew I was taking my first shot at the first level (not helped by the fact that my friend had been practicing and we were playing 2 player and I looked completely rubbish) and dying almost instantly. A turtle had killed me off! A turtle for goodness sake! There had been times when I was young when I had killed dozens of turtles, practically with my eyes closed too!

Here’s my point: sometimes revisiting the past is good. You’ll be amazed at all the other things you recall and discover. Have a go, you know you want to.

The they—that mystical group who have a lot to answer for, including why dog insurance is so expensive—say, in their infinite wisdom, that to become a professional therapist, hairdresser, or whatever, that one must first experience the therapy or whatever themselves. Only then can he / she fully appreciate what it must be like. What nonsense! The only time I think this is true is for becoming a driving instructor. I know this because I am one, and to become one I had to first undergo a ruthless test.

The test was horrible. As a grown man, outside of my marriage it’s not often I am made to feel like a child, but the man testing me did quite nicely. “Get in, please”, he said when we met. No handshake, no nothing. I paused a moment, expecting him to turn around and say “Only joking old boy!” but he didn’t. I went round to the passenger seat. It brought back horrid memories of my driving test all those years ago–

(This post is not about what happened when I started my instructor training, because that’s all very dull. No, this is about my test. It was a cold day in November, and I was a young man–)

There I was, ready to face my test. It would have been fine had we, upon exiting the test centre, not been caught in the middle of a car chase. I remember it vividly: the instructor telling me to pull over, and me saying “I can’t! There’s a maniac cop behind me!” In truth In could have pulled over, but I didn’t want to. I knew that there was a strong likelihood that this was the one and only chance I would have to be involved in a car chase, and so I was taking it!

Suffice to say the chase went well. Lots of shouting, speed, and terrifying my examiner. I didn’t pass of course. He said that by exceeding 80mph in a 30 zone I had made myself unpassable.

Simplifying things is definitely under-rated if you ask me. And energy-saving too: Global Warming, climate change, and all that stuff in general suffer from the complexity bug and end up being totally confusing for all but the geniuses. Which is a good thing in some ways; for example, the more complex something is, the more bad stuff we don’t have to know about. But is that really the attitude we should be taking to these horrendous problems? Imagine if nobody had said “Those shell suits don’t really look good, do they? In fact the whole shell-suit craze has gone a bit too far. Let’s just stop it, right here, right now”. A truly terrifying thought. Shell-suits might have taken over the world. Chances are you’d be sitting in one now, and for every day for the rest of your life–

Enigin aren’t simpletons, as far as I know, but they are wholly devoted to the ‘let’s make life easy because what’s the point in making life difficult?’ thing. You can see how much they love it at the following link:

But don’t get me wrong: simplicity isn’t everything. Some things can’t be simplified, and Enigin know that to. But they are picky about the words they choose, and the approach they take to letting you know stuff in general. Which I am thankful for–seeing as complicated scientific terms tends to switch my brain immediately off. Unless they come with pictures, of course, in which case it’s going to be a very good day.

What happened to etiquette? Back in the days of old it was considered the next most important thing to breathing and eating, but nowadays that philosophy is all but forgotten. In fact, you’re more likely to come across a rampaging wilderbeast while doing the weekly shopping.

But have no fear, there are some TV shows which aim to restore this once crucial staple of modern English life back to its former glory. One of them, if I remember correctly, is called ‘from ladet to lady’.

Now, if you’ve been teaching overseas for the last few years and have been subjected to horrible European pop-music junk and breathtakingly badly-put together European TV, you probably won’t have come across the term Ladet. Fear not, for it is simple to explain. A Ladet is, quite simply, everything that is not fine about a woman: it is the woman without etiquette and without a care in the world for it. Basically it’s a woman acting like a slob of a man. Not very attractive, right?

So anyway. This TV show is great because it takes Ladet’s out of their usual hellish environment and throws them in to despicably scary situations where they are a) forced to walk like ladies and b) forced to talk like ladies and c) generally forced period. There’s no real abuse happening, it should be said. The Ladet’s enter in to this tortuous scheme willingly, in an effort to try and cast the horrible genetic ladet-DNA code from their bodies before it is too late!

Take my science teacher as a prime example. He had this thing about energy. He loved energy more than his wife (which was why his wife left him). At the start of every lesson he would make this big speech about energy: “It’s incredible!” he would exclaim. “It transforms from one thing to another, and it lives forever!” Now, after several years of this speech, made at least four times per week, I noticed a pattern forming in our class-room. The pattern was very simple. It said: let’s use as much energy as we can, because it’s never going anywhere, therefore we cannot waste it.

It all would have been fine if it was only our teacher making this speech, but over time I discovered that because of something called a ‘curriculum’, many teachers were making similar ones. The result? A generation of children who gave not a hoot for energy was produced. They turned into adults which then took the whole energy-wasting thing to another level of wastage. So there you have it, science teachers have a lot to answer for. If I had my way they would be made to go up in a shuttle and fix the holes in the ozone layer with their own sweat and blood.

Of course, the age we live in now is much more conscious of the energy-wasting problems. Click the link if you’d like to find out what you should already know!
